I grew up on the south coast of Western Australia running wild on the beautiful beaches with their incredibly soft white sand and stunning blue waters.
From a young age I loved drawing and painting, but sadly pursued a career in the much drier field of accounting rather than art! That was until a few years ago when I decided it was time to do what I love and love what I do!
I am mostly self taught, but over the years have completed some studies in the areas of art history and design.
I am inspired by light and colour and anything that I consider beautiful, or you could say, that brings me joy.
So I guess art for me is an expression of the beauty in the world around me.
I enjoy painting scenes or objects from photographs, where the subject is bathed in soft morning light or the glorious golden halo of evening sunlight. Animals and birds are a particularly favourite subject.
I have always loved the works of the Australian Heidelberg school of painters and of the wonderful JMW Turner and I’m sure it’s their fabulous use of light that draws me in.
I enjoy using a variety of media but have a strong preference for watercolours and pastels. However I often use acrylics and oils and sometimes experiment with other media such as ink, coloured pencils and markers. I occasionally dabble in illustration, print making and digital design as well, and I enjoy making mosaics in my spare time!
I work from my home in the Swan Valley, and am happy to accept commissions in watercolour, oils, acrylics or pastels.
Please feel free to browse this site and my gallery, and to send me an email or a message via Facebook or Instagram if you are interested in my work.
